Thanks to its successful revalorization, Occitan enjoys a positive public image in France, although its use remains marginal. By viewing this situation through a societal lens, this book scrutinises the potential of revitalization efforts to create space for re-imagining community. A rich case study using an inventive methodology, it offers a novel perspective on the significance of language and culture in a rural French town in transition.
