The sculptor Rodney Munday examines the impact of the art works that have influenced his thinking and the evolution of his artistic style on his Christian faith, as well as the way in which his faith has shaped his own sculpture. This is an examination of the ways in which the context and reception of religious art through the centuries poses questions about Christianity and how both individuals and the establishment respond to new works of art. Rodney Munday was educated at Hertford Grammar School and St Edmund Hall, Oxford. Between these two he went to art school, but left after a week. Following Oxford, he joined the family farming business and started to sculpt in his spare time. He exhibited his sculptures with the Royal Horticultural Society for ten years, which introduced him to a broad-based commissioning clientele. He is now widely known as a sculptor of religious subjects, with works on, around and in churches across the UK.
