Established in 1992, Mark English Architects is an award-winning firm that designs sustainable, sensible architecture that’s built to last. With an inherent understanding of context and climate, its residential designs reflect California’s relaxed indoor-outdoor lifestyle. This beautifully appointed monograph provides an inspiring glimpse of seven uniquely crafted homes, along with a close examination of the design approach. Mark English Architects believes every home is a prototype, developed in collaboration with the client, landscape, topography, climate, and cultural considerations. Landscape and climate play a vital role in every project, as buildings and spaces are designed to celebrate their location, whether it’s the city, coast, or mountains. The firm draws on the California vernacular of open-plan living, light-filled spaces, and natural materials to blur the boundaries of inside and outside. Every home is embedded with a layer of artistry, providing unique homes that reflect their residents.
