Michael Resnick was an American science fiction writer and editor. He won five Hugo awards, and a Nebula award. According to Locus, Mike Resnick has won more awards for short fiction than any other science fiction author. He was the guest of honor at Chicon 7, the executive editor of Jim Baen's Universe and the editor and creator of Galaxy's Edge magazine. Resnick's style is known for the inclusion of humor. He enjoyed collaborating with other writers, especially on short stories. Through 2014 he had collaborated with 52 different writers on short fiction, three on screenplays, and three on novels. Late in life, he began writing and selling a series of mystery novels as well, featuring detective Eli Paxton. He had also sold screenplays based on his novels to Miramax, Capella, and Jupiter 9, and often had multiple properties under option to Hollywood studios. His work has been translated into: French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Bulgarian, Hungarian, Hebrew, Russian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Czech, Dutch, Latin, Swedish, Romanian, Finnish, Portuguese, Slovakian, Chinese, Catalan, Danish, Croatian, and Greek. Resnick's papers are in the Special Collections Library of the University of South Florida in Tampa. Dragon Con and Arc Manor (publisher of Galaxys Edge Magazine) established The Mike Resnick Memorial Award for Short Fiction in his memory in 2021. Lezli Robyn is an Australian author, editor and Assistant Publisher of Arc Manor, who lives in beautiful Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where she resides with her blue-eyed mini-Dachshund/Chihuahua named Bindi (which means little girl in several indigenous Australian dialects). Since her first short story sale to Clarkesworld, Lezli has sold fiction to professional markets around the world, including Asimovs and Analog. In 2009 she was proud to become a finalist for the Australian Aurealis Award for Best SF Story, and finalist for the 2010 Spanish Premio Ignotus Award for Best Foreign Short Story, as well as a finalist for the 2010 Campbell Award for Best New Writer. In 2011 she won the Catalan Premi Ictineu Award with Mike Resnick for Best Translated Story, for Soulmates, and they won the award again in 2014, for their short story Benchwarmer. Both these stories are included in this collection.
