Woods (Spanish, Trinity U.) and Stovall (Spanish, San Antonio College) present a reference text for high school and college students, and independent learners. The selection of words is based on computer count frequency in both languages, thus giving the user only words of high incidence. The 802 entries are grouped into two sections--587 true cognates and 215 false--but with the inclusion of homonyms, synonyms, augmentatives, diminutives, and words of the same family, the total number of cognates for either language is some 9,500. Each entry includes the Spanish word, its English equivalent, sample sentences demonstrating usage, and notes providing critical information.
