Spelling, Grammar & Punctuation (formerly Jolly Grammar) is a six-level programme that gives young children the skills they need to spell and punctuate more accurately, use a wider vocabulary and have a clearer understanding of how language works.
The Teachers Book for each level offers in-depth guidance on the programme, which introduces new spelling patterns, supports a greater understanding of sentence structure, expands vocabulary and comprehension and cultivates dictionary and thesaurus skills. It also provides a set of structured lesson plans that introduce complex grammatical concepts in an engaging and child-friendly way.
As part of the new Jolly Literacy brand, all the Teachers Books have new covers and ISBNs. Levels 36 remain the same in terms of content, but the inside pages have a fresher look and feel. Level 1 and Level 2, however, are new editions with updated content that includes a full scope and sequence for the 36 units, a revised introduction, and new lessons on ph; the /air/ spellings; ear saying /ear/; suffixes; comparatives and superlatives; and sentence work (sequencing/using the joining word and). Level 1 also has a completely new design that complements the new Comprehension & Creative Writing course. Both programmes are designed to work seamlessly together, and new editions of the other levels will be published alongside Comprehension & Creative Writing, Levels 36.
