This edited volume presents the research results of the Collaborative Research Center 1026 "Sustainable manufacturing - shaping global value creation". The book aims at providing a reference guide of sustainable manufacturing for researchers, describing methodologies for development of sustainable manufacturing solutions. The volume is structured in four chapters covering the following topics: sustainable manufacturing technology, sustainable product development, sustainable value creation networks and systematic change towards sustainable manufacturing. The target audience comprises both researchers and practitioners in the field of sustainable manufacturing, but the book may also be beneficial for graduate students.

Glossary 277
Researchers from the Technische Universität Berlin (TUB), the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM), the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology (IPK), the Franhofer Institute for Electronic Packaging and System Integration (IZM) the Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB), and the Social Science Research Centre, Berlin (WZB) are working together in the Collaborative Research Center CRC 1026 "Sustainable Manufacturing Shaping Global Value Creation".

In this CRC, scientists from the production engineering and environmental technologies work together with economists and mathematicians to address the question of how global production and economical operations can be carried out in a sustainable way. Their goal is to develop new virtual and real production processes that demonstrate the supremacy of sustainable methods over consumption-based ones.
