For Detective Chief Inspector Joe Mottram, a summer on the island of Capri was meant to be an opportunity to reconnect with his troubled teenage daughter, Angelica, and his Italian in-laws, after his wifes Francescas death by a hit-and-run.

But when a British tourist is found dead and a member of his late wifes family is accused of murder, Joe is pulled back into a world of police cells, crime scenes and local corruption. As he discovers more about the island, he realises it holds the answers to Francescas death, which may not have been a tragic accident after all.

Arvustused

Baker vividly evokes the relationships...and their grief for Sophia, as well as describing delectable meals, provided for comfort, education, seduction and encouragement * Literary Review * As a high-end holiday destination with an underbelly of organised crime, Capri makes an irresistible setting for crime fiction...Baker moves deftly between the murder investigation and a look behind the scenes at the struggling restaurant owned by Mottrams Italian parents-in-law. * Joan Smith, The Times *
