Dr. S. K. Ukarande is the Director, K. J. Somaiya School of Engineering, Mumbai and the Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai. He holds a Bachelors degree from College of Engineering, Pune, and a Masters and Ph.D. from IIT Bombay. In his 39 years of exceptional career, he has extensively contributed at various higher technical education leadership positions. He has served as the Principal of reputed engineering colleges affiliated to the University of Mumbai and Pune University for more than 26 years. He has been the Former Dean, Faculty of Technology as well as Former Dean, Faculty of Science & Technology at University of Mumbai. With 4 books to his credit, he has published more than 50 Papers in National and International Journals/Conference Proceedings. He has guided 24 PG Dissertations and 8 Ph.D. candidates. He was the guiding force and leadership for development of the satellite Somaiya BeliefSat-0 by the team at K J Somaiya Institute of Technology, which was successfully launched by ISRO in 2024, a landmark achievement for any engineering institute in India. Dr. Ukarande is honoured with Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan National Award for Best Engineering College Principal (2018- 19) by the Indian Society for Technical Education, most Inspiring Leader in Engineering Education (2023) by Higher Education Digest for his enormous contributions in the field of education. Dr. Nandana A. Prabhu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Information Technology at Somaiya Vidyavihar University, Mumbai. Dr. Ninad D. Mehendale is a postdoctoral researcher from KIT, Germany, and is currently an Associate Professor in the Electronics Department at K.J. Somaiya School of Engineering. Prior to KJSCE, he worked as a Scientist at the Institute of Microstructure Technology, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany. He has also served as a faculty member at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology and D.J. Sanghvi College of Engineering. Dr. Ninad holds a Ph.D. in Microfabrication and Image Processing from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He was a gold medalist during his M.Tech. at NMIMS University. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronics and Telecommunication, as well as a Diploma in Industrial Electronics. During his diploma studies, he received the Ratan Tata Scholarship for being a topper in the MSBTE diploma exams.
