Mandal is a Professor in the Department of Veterinary Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences, West Bengal University of Animal and Fishery Sciences, Kolkata, India and former Head of the Department and former Dean-In-Charge of Faculty of Veterinary & Animal Sciences and former Controller of Examinations (Actg.) of the same university. He is a doctorate from a premier institution, Indian Veterinary Research Institute. He has more than three decades of teaching and research experience in the field of Veterinary Parasitology. He is the sole author of several books, including Veterinary Parasitology at a Glance, Veterinary Helminthology, Question Bank of Veterinary Parasitology, Sure Success in Veterinary Parasitology, Encyclopedic Glimpses of Veterinary Parasitic Diseases. Of these books, two books are amongst the best books of all time as selected by BookAuthority. He has contributed a chapter in a popular book, Pathology of Infectious Disease of Domestic Animals. He worked in six prestigious research projects (DBT-2,DST-1,ICAR-1,NATP-1,RKVY-1) in different capacities and acquired vast research experience. He submitted forty one gene sequences of different parasites in the GenBank and got accession numbers of those.
