Alan I. Abramowitz is the Alben W. Barkley Professor of Political Science at Emory University. He received his PhD in Political Science from Stanford University in 1976 and specializes in American elections, voting behavior, and public opinion. He has published more than 40 articles in scholarly journals including The American Political Science Review, The American Journal of Political Science, and The Journal of Politics. He is co-author of several books on electoral politics in the United States, including The Life of Parties (with John McGlennon and Ronald Rapoport), Nomination Politics (with Walter Stone), and Senate Elections (with Jeffrey Segal).
