Arvustused

Soul stomping, finger clicking, soul so good it hurts. Get the talc out, the dancings just about to begin. ALAN H, DJ 'Do I love it? Indeed I do!' FRANK COTTRELL-BOYCE Patience Agbabi has created a glorious time-slip of a world in Wonderland. It has everything I want - snazzy verse, characters to root for and the booming heartbeat of Welsh Northern Soul. I adored it! JASBINDER BILAN Wonderland captures the excitement and exclusivity of Northern Soul. Patiences poetic lay-outs and sensibilities make for a fast-moving read of this vibrant, underground scene and our heros initiation. ADY CROASDELL, ACE RECORDS I read Wonderland by Patience Agbabi in one sitting: loved the immersive feel of this YA verse novel and the voice of the main character. Its so vividly told I felt I was there! JO BOWERS

Patience Agbabi was born in London and spent her teenage years dancing to Northern Soul and live ska bands on the pier in Colwyn Bay, North Wales. Shes written four books of poetry including Telling Tales, a lively and critically acclaimed retelling of Chaucers Canterbury Tales and has performed her work all over the world. She loves sharing her inspirations in schools and universities and in 2020 she launched The Leap Cycle, a middle-grade time-travel quartet. The first book of that series, The Infinite, won the Wales Book of the Year: Children & Young People category in 2021. Patience still has all her original vinyl and regularly enjoys the Northern Soul scene in Kent, London and beyond.
