How does the Sanskrit Mahbhrata act as a religious text? What is the relation between this texts ideas of salvation and its main character King Yudhihira? This book shows that Yudhihira serves as a medium for the organization of diverse soteriological ideas. Examining this characters narrative trajectory of struggles and redemptions, this book shows he is intimately associated with moka (liberation from rebirth). Importantly, Yudhihira serves to redefine moka as selfless action performed as part of a persons inherited duty (svadharma), action done for the sake of dharma alone.
