Separated and trying to navigate the co-parenting world?

Separation often brings with it trauma, stressors, and obstacles that make it difficult to see a way forward. By working together as collaborative co-parents, separating couples can protect their children from conflict and the impact of divorce and separation.

Children do best in environments where there is stability. Separation is a when time separating parents need to put their children’s well-being ahead of their own and make decisions that help them raise their children in the healthiest and happiest way possible.

Although the family unit is no longer the same, it’s still a family. Acknowledging this and putting their children’s needs ahead of anger and conflict will help separated couples to co-parent in a more effective way.

Separated parents can coexist if they have respectful boundaries and the right rules and tools in place. Learning to effectively communicate and have positive dialogue is often the first step. By implementing a set of agreed rules around their co-parenting relationship, they can give their children the gift of safety, security, and stability following separation.

In The Collaborative Co-Parent, Gabriella Pomare, a separation and parenting expert, helps separating parents on their journey to redefining the family unit and co-existing peacefully with their former partner.

A resident of Sydney, Australia, Gabriella Pomare is a family lawyer and separated mum of a gorgeous three-year-old boy. The daughter of a family lawyer, she was inspired to make a change in the world of separation and divorce. Wanting to experience family law at the coal front, she became an associate to a justice of the Family Court of Australia before transitioning to private practice at her fathers firm, growing the firm from a sole practitioner practice to a modern, growing boutique firm with three offices.

Gabriella was a finalist for several prestigious awards including the 2022 and 2023 Lawyers Weekly Partner of the Year Awards Family Law and the Women in Law Awards Partner of the YearSME.

Through her experience of working with separating families and navigating the co-parenting world herself, she gained a passion for helping families rebuild their family unit, albeit separated, and collaboratively co-parent to grow resilient, secure children of divorce.
