Susan Friedman, MD, MPH, has been a practicing geriatrician for over 30 years, and has spent more than a decade focusing on fostering healthy aging, incorporating geriatrics and lifestyle medicine into her clinical work, teaching, program development, research, and advocacy. She obtained her undergraduate, MD and MPH degrees from Northwestern University, and completed a General Internal Medicine residency and Geriatrics fellowship in the Johns Hopkins University system, based at Hopkins Bayview Hospital. She was on faculty at Johns Hopkins for 5 years before moving to the University of Rochester in 2000.

Dr. Friedman is Professor of Medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, in the Division of Geriatrics. She is the medical director of the universitys lifestyle medicine program based at Highland Hospital. She has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed papers, which have been cited more than 3000 times, and was the lead author of the American Geriatrics Societys White Paper on Healthy Aging.
