As an associate professor of public health at California State University, Fullerton, she creates innovative programs for students, faculty, and staff, and her research focuses on inclusive wellness. Portia holds a BA in cultural and social anthropology from Stanford University, a master of public health from the University of Michigan, and a doctorate of public health from UCLA. She lives in Long Beach, California.
