Prof. Maciej Banach is a Vice-Rector for Collegium Medicum in the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) and Head of Department of Preventive Cardiology and Lipidology at the Medical University of Lodz (MUL). He is also an Adjunct Professor at the Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease, and Senior Research Fellow at the Liverpool Centre for Cardiovascular Sciences (LCCS). He is a Founder and Head of the Polish Lipid Association (PoLA), Founder of the Lipid and Blood Pressure Meta-analysis Collaboration (LBPMC) Group, and President of the International Lipid Expert Panel (ILEP). Prof. Banach is within 1% the highest cited scientists in the world according to Essential Science Indicators by Clarivate (with 80 TOP Papers) and one of the most cited scientist in Poland with 107,475, IH=112 acc. Web of Science Core Collection, and 182,792 citations, IH=146 acc. Google Scholar. He is a laureate of several prizes and award, including: the Most Influential Person in Medicine in Poland for year 2023 with 2nd place for year 2024 on the Top 100 list by Puls Medycyny journal, and 5 recognitions of Doctor Honoris Causa (at the Universities in Zagreb, Kosice, Bucharest, Kiev, and Timisoara).



Stanisaw Surma, MD., graduate of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice in 2023. Currently a research and teaching assistant at the Department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology of the Medical University of Silesia in Katowice. PhD student of prof. Maciej Banach. Author of over 250 scientific papers with a total IF > 367, h index 23 and i-10 index 51, number of citations > 1840, mainly in the field of preventive cardiology. In 2023, he received a scholarship from the Minister of Health for significant scientific achievements and an honorary distinction - Laur named after Doctor W. Mayzel awarded by Polish Academy of Sciences. Also in 2023, in the Puls Medycyny journal plebiscite 10th edition of Supertalents in Medicine, he received the distinction "Rising star of Polish medicine" and the First Prize Polish Lipid Association Most Recognized Young Lipidologist Award 2023. At the end of his studies, he received a distinction for the greatest scientific achievements among the graduates of the Medical University of Silesia. He received the badge of meritorious for the Polish Diabetic Association. He is a member of expert groups at the Polish Lipid Association (PoLA) and International Lipid Expert Panel (ILEP). He is the head of the ILEP section - Young Lipidologists and Preventionists. He serves as a section editor in Archives of Medical Science and associate editor in the International Journal of Cardiology Cardiovascular Risk and Prevention.
