Zhang Qiusheng, a native of Quanzhou City in Fujian Province, is a senior professor at the School of Economics and Management, Beijing Jiaotong University. He serves as Director of the National Transport Development Institute of Beijing Jiaotong University, Secretary-General of Stainable Transport Innovation Centre, a national top think tank. He established the China Centre for Mergers and Acquisitions Research at Beijing Jiaotong University in 1998.
Professor Zhang has received national teaching award and four high level academic awards, published more than one hundred papers in the field of M&A and financial accounting, more than 30 authored and translation books.
He is a recipient of the Special Government Allowance by the State Council and a Distinguished Accounting Expert recognized by the Ministry of Finance. He serves as a member of the 7th and 8th Applied Economics Disciplinary Appraisal Group of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Executive Director of the Chinese Society of Management, Chairman of the China Society of Mergers, Acquisitions Research, Director of the Accounting Society of China, and Independent Director of listed companies including Gree Electric Appliances, China National Materials Storage and Transportation Corporation, and Luoniushan.
He holds the qualifications of Chinese Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Chinese Certified Tax Agent (CTA). He has previously been engaged as a consulting expert of the Accounting Standards Committee of the Ministry of Finance, a price consulting expert of the National Development and Reform Commission, and Vice President of China Federation of Logistics & Purchasing.
He has been an independent director of A-share and H-share listed companies since 2001. Since 2007, he has been appointed by the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council as an external director of several central state-owned enterprises. From 2008 to 2009, he was seconded as Deputy Mayor of Liuzhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
