"Movement activities can help toddlers channel their energy in creative and beneficial ways as they learn healthy habits. This physical education curriculum includes a variety of lesson plans and activities that support toddlers' movement in developmentally appropriate ways"--

Pica, an education consultant and author specializing in early childhood physical activity, provides 14 30-minute lessons with four activities each to teach toddlers to move and learn. Arranged in progressive order, they consist of body part, nonlocomotor, locomotor, and movement activities for each lesson, with extensions, questions for observation and evaluation, ways to add equipment, and connections to content areas, as well as illustrations of movements. She also discusses the benefits of movement, benefits for children with special needs, standards, implementing the program, teaching methods, adapting activities, and developmental considerations. The accompanying CD contains music to add to the activities. Annotation ©2014 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
