Neuere exegetische Ansätze betonen stark, dass das Verhältnis von Judentum und Christentum in der Anfangszeit nicht im Sinne einer binären Gegenüberstellung zweier voneinander klar abgegrenzter Religionssysteme zu denken ist. Der vorliegende Band möchte diese differenzierende Perspektive unter Heranziehung des wissenschaftlichen Paradigmas der Intersektionalität vertiefen und weiterführen. Dieses Paradigma entstand zur Analyse von überlappenden Unterdrückungsgefügen und beschreibt die Mehrdimensionalität von Identitätsdiskursen und Machtstrukturen. Die Beiträge diskutieren den Intersektionalitätsansatz aus soziologischer, literaturwissenschaftlicher, judaistischer und exegetischer Perspektive und machen ihn für die Reflexion von Identitätsbildungsprozessen an der Schnittstelle von "Judentum" und "Christentum" fruchtbar.
