Iain Carter became the BBCs golf correspondent in 2003 and has led Radio 5 Lives commentary team ever since. He appears on BBC television and the World Service, and writes on golf regularly for the BBC Sport website. As a sports journalist he has covered five Olympic Games, and he was formerly the BBCs tennis correspondent. He is a lifelong recreational golfer who desperately clings to a single-figure handicap; Iain has reported on The Open for three decades and regards it as his favourite sporting event.

As custodians of golf, The R&A makes a substantial contribution to the sport through jointly overseeing the Rules codes, building on the success of The Open, the AIG Womens Open and its other prestigious championships, and reinvesting in developing golf around the world to ensure it has a sustainable, inclusive and prosperous long-term future.
