Arvustused

'This superb volume brings together diverse views of leading scholars on a broad range of China topics. The overview chapter itself is a must-read for anyone interested in key debates on the Chinese economy; the individual papers are written with clarity and sometimes fearless candor. Very informative.' Kenneth Rogoff, Maurits C. Boas Chair of International Economics, Harvard University, and Chief Economist and Director of Research, International Monetary Fund (20013) 'China's economic landscape has changed dramatically over the past decade, and informed analysis of these changes is scarce. This new volume contains insightful, empirically grounded chapters by expert authors on key challenges for China: population aging, downsizing the property sector, enhancing productivity growth, RMB internationalization, and reforming trade and the state sector. It belongs on the shelf of every serious scholar of the Chinese economy.' Mary Lovely, Anthony M. Solomon Senior Fellow, Peterson Institute for International Economics 'The Arc of the Chinese Economy arrives at a critical moment. After four decades of rapid growth, China faces urgent challenges in shifting toward a model emphasizing consumption, productivity, and sustainability amid an unprecedented trade war initiated by the Trump administration and global economic restructuring. Understanding China's economic trajectory over the next decade is essential yet complex. Hanming Fang and Marshall Meyer have expertly assembled world-leading scholars who provide clear, insightful analyses on various aspects of China's recent economic developments. Their combined expertise makes this volume invaluable and accessible, a must-read for anyone seeking to understand the future direction of the Chinese economy.' Hongbin Cai, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Hong Kong 'The Arc of the Chinese Economy brings together top scholars in related fields to provide an in-depth, multidisciplinary analysis from the perspectives of economics, sociology, demography, and more of the driving forces behind China's economic rise. It systematically diagnoses the challenges and solutions in China's recent structural transformation. With its broad vision, innovative insights, and thought-provoking perspectives, this is a must-read for anyone interested in the past and future of the Chinese economy.' Li-An Zhou, Boya Professor of Economics, Guanghua School of Management, Peking University 'The chapters in The Arc of the Chinese Economy are written by leading experts on the Chinese economy, many drawing unexpected conclusions. It is an important book for anyone thinking about China's long-term economic prospects.' Weijian Shan, Executive Chairman of private equity firm Pacific Alliance Group and author of Out of the Gobi, Money Games, and Money Machine 'At a time when there has never been greater uncertainty about China's global economic role and the ability of China's economy to withstand internal pressures such as population aging, a declining property market, and slowing productivity growth, The Arc of the Chinese Economy provides illuminating insights into China's current and future economic prospects. With chapters authored by leading global experts on the Chinese economy, this book is full of new ideas, compelling empirical facts, and multiple perspectives on the key challenges facing China's economic future, addressing key debates on China's changing role in the world, past and future drivers of growth, and the role of the state in China's economy.' Albert Park, Chief Economist and Director General, Economic Research and Development Impact Department, Asian Development Bank
