Throughout his 45 years of experience of teaching Englishin the Arab world, Francis Andrew has consistentlynoticed that many ELT materials are heavily culturallyweighted to such an extent that it is often difficult for nonwesternlearners of English to relate to the contents of suchmaterials presented to them.
