Prominent scholars of Peace Journalism (PJ), Jake Lynch and Annabel McGoldrick, define the concept as "When editors and reporters make choicesabout what to report, and how to report itthat create opportunities for society at large to consider and value non-violent responses to conflict." However, it has been challenged by media scholars, who argue that it is entirely unfeasible within the current media structure, simplistic, and subjective. Others label it as journalism of attachment and advocacy.

This edited volume challenges these critiques by providing empirical evidence that Peace Journalism is not only feasible but is already being practicedparticularly in digital media spaces. This well researched study presents nine quantitative studies exploring the extent of applying Peace Journalism (PJ) orientations in global, regional, and social media coverage of conflicts in the Middle East, the chapters also argue that such digital platforms can serve as tools for bridging the gap between conflicting parties, thereby promoting dialogue and peacebuilding.
