Arvustused

A considerable amount of scholarship recommends that school counselors develop well-integrated college and career readiness programs, but far less attention has been devoted to the identification of concrete strategies. Dr. Moore-Thomas actually delivers by showing school counselors how to develop comprehensive K-12 career development strategies. Her book includes lesson plans, handouts, discussion points and resources. This is a must have guide. -- Norma L. Day-Vines, PhD, Associate Dean for Faculty Development; Professor, Counseling and Human Development, Johns Hopkins University Cheryl Moore-Thomas College and Career Readiness: A Guide for School Counselors K-12 is a substantive and practical guide for school counselors interested in both the research behind the best contemporary thinking in career and college readiness, as well as practical steps s/he can take right now. Whether the subject is new to you, or one in which you have practiced for some time, there is plenty in here to enrich your professional practice. -- Craig Bass, Client Success Leader, XAP Corporation In this important work on career/college development, Dr. Moore-Thomas eloquently underscores the importance of cultural competency and the role of the school counselor as advocate for ALL. It is clear that when Dr. Moore-Thomas says ALL children she means ALL children. The practical lessons within the book are a fantastic resource for school counselors. Additionally, the focus on developmental stages and the holistic and over-time approach to helping children create their future path is practical and meaningful. This book can help school counselors view the importance of a K-12 approach to college and career readiness. Dr. Moore-Thomas offers insight into how to ensure ALL children are equipped to have a happy and bright future! -- Gayle M. Cicero, EdD, LCPC, Clinical Assistant Professor, Loyola University Maryland
