Creating Smart and Safe Manufacturing Environments: The role of innovation and safety management is a comprehensive volume that bridges engineering, data science, occupational safety, and industrial automation to provide a structured blueprint for transforming conventional production systems into intelligent, resilient, and human-centric manufacturing ecosystems.

The book addresses the critical convergence of cyber-physical systems (CPS), industrial internet of things (IIoT), artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and digital twins, all designed to align with the requirements of industry 4.0 and the emerging ethos of industry 5.0. It emphasizes the integration of automation and safety as co-dependent design objectives, detailing the frameworks, standards, and architectures required to engineer environments that are not only efficient but fundamentally safe for human workers and autonomous systems.

The book is a highly technical and application-driven reference for industrial engineers, plant designers, HSE professionals, and researchers. It combines state-of-the-art technology with regulatory insight and strategic vision to guide the creation of intelligent, ethical, and safe production systems.

Safety remains a critical concern throughout manufacturing industries. This book describes how new tools such as AI and virtual reality, together with cutting-edge management system innovations, are transforming risk management, security, and operational safety across manufacturing sectors.
