This popular text provides a comprehensive, yet accessible, introduction to the physics and technology of medical ultrasound, with high quality ultrasound images and diagrams throughout. Covering all aspects of the field at a level that meetings the requirements of accredited sonography courses, it is ideal for both trainee and qualified healthcare professionals practising ultrasound in a clinical setting. Building on the content of previous editions, this third edition provides the latest guidance relating to ultrasound technology, quality assurance and safety and discusses the latest techniques. Key Features:Convenient and readable resource for students of clinical ultrasound and for those who teach themAlso suitable as an introductory text for physicists and engineers and those undertaking research in the areaCompletely revised and updated, including new types of piezoelectric materials, whole-field of view imaging techniques, vector flow techniques, techniques to image small vessels, Ultrafast spectral Doppler and the latest on image optimizationEnd-of-chapter questions for self-testing and a comprehensive glossaryThe highly-experienced editors and contributing authors are all authorities in their areas, with contributions to the scientific and professional development of ultrasound at national and international level.

Arvustused

Its hard to make physics sexy unless youre Brian Cox but I reckon the third edition by Hoskins et al is as close as it gets. The book is colourful, affordable and good value. In my opinion, this reliable text will be useful for practitioners studying clinical ultrasound, for individuals delivering course content and, if fitted with an anti-theft device, a handy resource to keep on the bookshelf of all training departments. Hazel Edwards, senior sonographer at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust RAD Magazine, January, 2020
