This enchanting story follows one girl's journey from her very first trip to the ballet, through the doors of ballet school, and into the world of disciplined yet passionate training. From the beauty of key positions to the grace of timeless choreography, this story invites readers to step into a world where dreams and hard work intertwine.

Filled with illustrations of ballet positions, a history of the art form and the captivating tales behind famous ballets, this book is a treasure trove for budding dancers. A glossary of ballet terms makes it the perfect companion for young readers eager to learn.

First published in 1953, Anna's story will captivate young readers and delight adult fans of Noel Streatfeild's work, including the much-loved Ballet Shoes. Fresh new illustrations bring this classic ballet book for children up to date.
Noel Streatfeild (1895-1986) was born in Amberley, Sussex. Her father was Bishop of Lewes and her great-grandmother was the prison reformer, Elizabeth Fry. She was a mischievous child, often in trouble at home. While growing up, she and her sisters put on plays for parish causes and, after making munitions during World War I, she trained as an actress. Noel Streatfeild started by writing books for adults. Her first and best-loved children's book, BALLET SHOES, was published in 1936. She won the prestigious Carnegie Medal for children's literature in 1939. When World War II broke out, she worked in canteens for the armed forces and for those injured by bombs. She wrote over 80 books in her lifetime and lived in London till her death. Jennifer is an illustrator living and working in Staffordshire, UK. Jennifer uses watercolour and linework, either traditionally or digitally, to create elegant images that lend themselves to a wide variety of projects.
