In these proceedings of the July 2005 conference, contributors describe their research, theoretical work and applications in augmented cognition, a field that combines computer science and information processing capabilities with new understanding of how humans think. Topics in the field of human information processing include multimodal interfaces in human-computer interaction, cognitive foundations of human information processing, realistic environments, and task-specific information. Those on cognitive state sensors include near-infrared technologies, EEG for functional operator state assessment, psycho-physiological sensor technologies, wireless sensors that are wearable and rugged, and transforming sensors into gauges.
