Fourteen chapters looking at surgical therapies of shoulder girdle fractures are presented by Levine (sports medicine, Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center), Marra (orthopaedic surgery and rehabilitation, Loyola U. Medical Center), and Bigliani (orthopaedic surgery, Columbia U.). Open reduction and internal fixation with implants are discussed in early chapters. Humeral head replacement, arthroscopic treatments, and management of nonunions of the clavicle and the proximal humerus are then discussed More complex problems such as malunions, locked dislocations, scapula and glenoid fractures, and clavicle malunions are explored in final chapters.
