In this book, recent advancements in the heterocycles functionalization by using different transition metals have been described. Heterocycles are the central point mainly in drug discovery and various other fields. The ease with which one can functionalize these scaffolds mainly accounts for the whole process output. In the last three decades, C-H activation has emerged as the sustainable and economic way to functionalize the heterocycles. Numerous catalytic methods have been developed and are being developed by applying mainly transition metals. The books main emphasis has been given to mechanistic aspects and the application of developed methodologies for the functionalization of natural scaffolds. The book is useful for researchers who are working in the area of C-H activation/functionalization in academia and industry.

Prof. Debabrata Maiti received his PhD from Johns Hopkins University in 2008 under the supervision of Prof. Kenneth D. Karlin. After postdoctoral studies at MIT with Prof. Stephen L. Buchwald he joined the Department of Chemistry at IIT Bombay in 2011. His research interests are focused on the development of new and sustainable synthetic and catalytic methodologies. Currently he is an Associate Editor of Journal of Organic Chemistry.

Dr. Sharma natively from Himachal Pradesh completed his Ph.D. from CSIR-IHBT, Palampur / GNDU, Amritsar. After that, he did two postdocs, first with Prof. D. Maiti, IIT, Bombay and second with Prof. Sukbok Chang, KAIST, South Korea. Dr. Upendra Sharma started his independent research in the fall of 2014, and his group research focus involves transition-metal-catalyzed remote C-H activation/functionalization and natural product chemistry. Mainly his group is looking for new antimalarial molecules either through metal-catalyzed modificat^150 research articles in reputed international journals and filed three patents till date. Recently he is admitted as Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), London, UK.
