This book is meant for readers who wish to focus on acquiring a sound understanding of the governing equations of fluid motion and the essential physics ingrained therein. There are several books already available in the market about Fluid Mechanics. The uniqueness of this book lies in the unconventional way in which the topics have been arranged. The author believes that the presented sequence of topics is more logical as it introduces the concepts of fluid mechanics building upon the fundamental framework of particle mechanics and tensor algebra.

Tensors.- Mechanics A brief review of the fundamentals.- Description of
fluid motion.- Fluid Kinematics.- Governing equations of fluid motion.-
Interaction of a flow field with a solid surface.- Hydrostatics.- Some simple
representative flows of an ideal fluid.- Some simple representative flows of
a viscous fluid.- Governing equations of fluid motion in non inertial
reference frames.
Dr. Sawan S. Sinha is a professor in the Department of Applied Mechanics, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, India. He received his B.Tech. degree in Aerospace Engineering from IIT Kanpur (2001) and his Ph.D. degree from Texas A&M University (Aerospace Engineering), College Station, Texas, USA (2009). Besides being a faculty member at IIT Delhi, his professional experience from the past includes working as an engineer for Defence Research Development Organization (DRDO) during 20032004 and later as a post-doctoral Research Associate at Texas A&M University (20102012).

Dr. Sinha has more than a decade-long teaching experience at IIT Delhi. He frequently teaches courses on Fluid Mechanics, Engineering Mechanics, Turbulence and its Modelling and Computational Fluid Dynamics, as well. Based on students feedback, he has received Awards for Teaching Excellence at IIT Delhi (Turbulent Flows, 2013 and Fluid Mechanics, 2014).
