This book consists of seven chapters, which speak about the future of collaborative learning. The aim of Chapter One is to shed light on the future of collaborative learning, especially using AI, since there is still a gap in research in this field. Chapter Two presents a literature review and analysis of the application of metaheuristic algorithms in online learning systems, addressing heterogeneous optimization problems and includes the application of recently developed algorithms and examining their performance. Chapter Three focuses not solely on AI itself, its capabilities, or technical specifications, but primarily on the role of AI in socio-technological relationships. Chapter Four aims to provide an overview that specifically examines the significance of neural networks in the context of collaborative learning, where their ability to analyze data and personalize user experiences is utilized to enhance the efficiency, engagement, and quality of learning in online and distance learning systems. Chapter Five reviews the research on collaborative learning and the contribution it makes to promoting different ways of thinking and working, and the effect these skills have on students' capacities to think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, and exercise initiative and adaptability as they seek to deal with challenging problems. It also discusses the key role teachers play in designing instructional activities that promote students' collaborative learning and engagement. Chapter Six focuses on showing researchers and the educational community the current situation on Metaverse, a topic that marks the future of virtual learning environments in both the medium and long term.
