Velde presents a grammar of Eton, an undescribed language from a subgroup of the Bantu family spoken in the Centre province of Cameroon. The author's study provides a basically theory-neutral synchronic description of Eton that will be useful to typologists and comparativists and that offers a solid base for any future research on the language. Following an introductory overview of the Eton language and the study, the text contains sections on the components of the Eton language including its phonology; nouns; verbs; other word classes; nominals; tense, aspect, mood and negation; the clause; and complex constructions. Also included is a short Eton-English lexicon of words from the open word classes noun and verb, and sample transcriptions of recorded texts used in the study.
