"For thrilling real-life action-adventure, you won't get much better than Tony Bradman." lovereading.co.uk

For fans of Percy Jackson and Dominic Sandbrook - Key Stage 2 history topics brought to life as pacey action thrillers. Nikos is the son of an important Athenian politician as the shadow of war against the Persians descends over Ancient Greece. When his father is forced to flee Athens, leaving his family behind, Nikos hears shocking news; his father is accused of spying for the Persian king. As Persia invades Greece, Nikos and his family are cast out as traitors. Determined to clear his father's name, Nikos goes undercover as a Greek spy in the Persian army. His quest for the truth - personal and political - takes Nikos from the burning of Athens to the famous battles of Salamis and Platea.

Packed with Curriculum-linked adventure content: Ancient Greek civilization and the Persian wars.

Arvustused

A historical note at the back of the book provides young readers with information as to what inspired the story, which has been very well researched and is filled with the sort of details that children not only enjoy reading but are also likely to remember, making this a great choice for those in Year 4 upwards as either an independent read or a class one to complement any topic work. At around 220 pages, the short length and inclusion of some wonderful artwork from Alessandro Valdrighi make this a read that will appeal to many who find much of what is on offer to them too long to engage with. I very much enjoyed it and can highly recommend it. * Mrs Sydney's Famous World's Smallest Library *
