Covers the diseases, conditions, and disorders of demographic groups. Covers diseases, conditions, and disorders that affect various populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, adolescents, pregnant women, immigrants and refugees, people with disabilities, ethnic and nursing homes residents, and homeless people.

Recognizing that the value of pharmacists extends beyond clinical interventions to include cost-effective healthcare solutions and compassionate, patient-centered care, this new series of handbooks aims to fill this gap by showcasing the expanded roles and responsibilities of pharmacists. It will be first of its kind to provide comprehensive information about evidence-based pharmacist care, providing the latest research, guidelines, and up-to-date best practices.

This handbook series is unique in that each volume covers a specific topic, such as infectious diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and cardiovascular diseases (to name just three areas) and will explore the impact of pharmacist care on patients in clinical settings, consider the economics and humanistic outcomes, as well as discuss the challenges and present helpful advice for implementing effective pharmacist care. The volumes will also delve into the implications, methods, and challenges of providing online and distance pharmacist care services for the specific diseases and conditions as well.

Volume 10: Diseases and Disorders of Special Populations is dedicated to the exploration of diseases, conditions, and disorders affecting various demographic groups, emphasizing the clinical, economic, and humanistic impact of pharmacist care tailored to these populations. Each chapter in this book is devoted to a different special population, acknowledging the distinct healthcare needs and challenges they face. From geriatrics to immigrants and refugees, this book covers a wide spectrum, highlighting the role of pharmacists in providing personalized, culturally competent, and empathetic care. Key topics in this book include diseases, conditions, and disorders that affect various populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, adolescents, pregnant women, immigrants and refugees, people with disabilities, ethnic and racial minorities, rural population, nursing homes residents, and homeless people.

This book serves as an essential resource for pharmacists and healthcare professionals who aim to provide optimal care to these special populations. Through evidence-based practices, case studies, and practical guidance, this book gives pharmacists the tools they need to address the unique healthcare needs of diverse populations, enhancing patient outcomes and promoting health equity.
