Recognizing that the value of pharmacists extends beyond clinical interventions to include cost-effective healthcare solutions and compassionate, patient-centered care, this new series of handbooks aims to fill this gap by showcasing the expanded roles and responsibilities of pharmacists. It will be first of its kind to provide comprehensive information about evidence-based pharmacist care, providing the latest research, guidelines, and up-to-date best practices.

This handbook series is unique in that each volume covers a specific topic, such as infectious diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and cardiovascular diseases (to name just three areas) and will explore the impact of pharmacist care on patients in clinical settings, consider the economics and humanistic outcomes, as well as discuss the challenges and present helpful advice for implementing effective pharmacist care. The volumes will also delve into the implications, methods, and challenges of providing online and distance pharmacist care services for the specific diseases and conditions as well.

Volume 13: Pharmacist Skills and Competencies addresses the increased need for pharmacists to acquire and refine a diverse set of skills and competencies. Designed as a comprehensive guide to foster the development and enhancement of a broad spectrum of clinical skills and competencies for pharmacist care, this book provides in-depth insights into the skills necessary for specialized care in various systems and conditions. Key topics in this book include cardiovascular system care, abdomen and gastrointestinal tract care, musculoskeletal system care; skin care; head, eyes, ears, nose, and throat (HEENT) care; chest and lung care; genitourinary system care; neurological system care; renal care; endocrine care; psychiatric care; hematological care; oncological care, health screening and diseases prevention; and patient assessment, diagnosis, and drug/therapy-related problem-solving.
