Hans Blix is Director General Emeritus at the International Atomic Energy Agency. He has a PhD in international law from the University of Cambridge and an LLD from the University of Stockholm. He was Swedish foreign minister 19781979, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) from 19811997 and chairman of the United Nations Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission (UNMOVIC) 20002003, tasked with searching for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.
