Gogotsi and Domnich, both affiliated with the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Drexel University, bring together work on experimental measurement techniques, simulation of pressure-induced phase transformations, amorphization, and tribology in this relatively new field of research. Early chapters describe experimental methods and simulation techniques used in the study of phase transformations, and consider phase transformations in semiconductors and ceramics. The remaining chapters describe pressure-induced amorphization, dynamic loading, and solid-state transformations in tribological processes. The book will be of use to advanced students and researchers working in high-pressure research, contact mechanics, and materials science. It is distributed in the US by AIDC.
