Arvustused

The fourth edition of Sanders's impressive dictionary consists of two volumes and totals 1,020 pages, a considerable increase from the first edition2nd ed. (CH, Oct'03, 41-0702)and an increase of 52 pages since the third edition (2010). In addition to including ancient and medieval Mongolia as well as the communist period, the fourth edition has exhaustive coverage of the post-1990 period. Besides the chronology and entries, Sanders (independent scholar) includes seven appendixes listing members of the Great and Little Khurals (assemblies) from 2008 to 2016 as well as the cabinet from 2016. The bibliography was suitably updated to include publications through 2016, and the "Addenda" includes entries related to the 2017 Mongolian presidential election. [ A]nyone following political events in Mongolia will find this work of the utmost importance. There are also delightful surprises, such as Sanderss inclusion of the Death Worm, a cryptozoological creature that has become prominent because of the internet. Summing Up: Highly recommended. All public and academic levels/libraries. * CHOICE *
