This book offers a panoramic overview of the history of legislation in the People’s Republic of China, presenting the compelling story of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and its Standing Committee in their dedication to building a socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics across thirteen major areas of legislation. By illustrating how China’s constitutions, laws, and regulations have evolved, and under what guiding principles, the book provides authoritative and insightful interpretations of the theory of the socialist legal system while documenting milestone developments in the rule of law. It serves as both a valuable academic resource and an accessible reference for general readers interested in China’s legislative process.
