This book analyzes the evolution of our polity in the last seven decades by examining the developments in the economy, political events, and changing judicial perceptions. With a focus on the pertinent constitutional, political, economic, and social questions, it presents an overview of events which have influenced the evolution of federal and unitary tendencies.

The subject matter of this book also discusses the emergence of coalition governments, dominance of a single party, relationships between the different tiers of the government, fiscal and economic issues, and political actions of constitutional authorities.
