Discussing all aspects connected with the scientific analysis of Rhipicephalus microplus, this book covers tick classification and identification, as well as methods of extracting natural products effective against ticks. It also describes tick cell culture procedures, tick acaricide-resistance diagnostics, and the identification of tick parasites and microorganisms from the host and the ticks' fluids, as well as the diagnosis of Babesia and Anaplasma in R. microplus.
Dr. Raquel Cossio-Bayugar, a senior scientific researcher in Mexico, obtained her Ph.D. from Texas A&M University and specializes in cattle-tick acaricide resistance, in vitro-tick cell culture, tick physiology, tick response to pathogens, and alternatives to acaricides for tick control. Having published more than 75 scientific articles, book chapters, and essays on these subjects, she is currently employed at the National Center for Disciplinary Research in Animal Health and Safety (CENID-SAI) of the National Institute for Forestry, Agriculture, and Livestock Research (INIFAP).Dr. Estefan Miranda-Miranda has been a senior scientific researcher for 30 years in Mexico at CENID-SAI of INIFAP. His research focuses on parasite antiparasitic resistance, molecular biology of parasites, and parasite physiology and has published numerous papers on the subject. He obtained his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. Dr. Sachin Kumar, recipient of the Young Scientist award and Principal Investigator in the Division of Parasitology at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI), specializes in chemical acaricide resistance in cattle ticks and the screening of various plant extracts with acaricidal activity and has developed a natural formulation for tick infestations that has been validated through field conditions. He has published 2 patents and more than 50 international research papers.
