This volume brings together the 570 most frequent academic words found in university and secondary school English-language textbooks. It provides the reader with the material necessary to consolidate and expand their academic vocabulary. Accompanied by pictorial illustrations of the words being presented to enhance students' ability to memorise them, the inclusion of parts of speech, synonyms, and antonyms allows for the further expansion of the reader's vocabulary. Each word is also presented alongside an example sentence to situate it in its proper context.
Professor Mohammad Hossein Keshavarz holds an MA in Applied Linguistics and TEFL from Ohio University, USA, and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Wales, UK. He has published 20 books, seven book chapters, and 65 journal articles. His research interests include language acquisition, sociolinguistics, pronunciation, and vocabulary. He is currently Head of the ELT Department at Girne American University, North Cyprus. Dr Ozgur Batur holds a BA in ELT from Girne American University, Cyprus, an MA in ELT from Yldz Technical University, Turkey, and a PhD in Educational Administration and Supervision from Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University, Turkey. His research interests include educational administration and organizational leadership. Mosayeb Fatahi-Majd obtained an MA in TEFL from Kharazmi University, Iran, in 2011. He has published a number of journal articles in the areas of English for academic purposes and language testing. He is currently the director of an English language institute in Kermanshah, Iran.
