This atlas of spinal MRI is the fruit of interdisciplinary cooperation among radiologists, orthopedic surgeons, traumatologists, and neurosurgeons. It is clinically oriented, covering all important diseases and injuries of the spine. Numerous illustrations are supplemented by concise descriptions of anatomy and pathophysiology, normal and abnormal MRI appearance, diagnostic pitfalls, and the clinical significance of MRI. The contents are arranged in a logical, accessible sequence, for quick reference: Normal Anatomy and Variants; Congenital and Developmental Anomalies; Trauma and Fractures; Degenerative Changes; Inflammatory Conditions; Tumors and Tumor-like Lesions; Postoperative Changes; and Suggested Reading. The clear and didactic style enables readers to assimilate the fundamentals of spinal anatomy and disease states as a basis for understanding diagnostic strategies and surgical management. By combining descriptions of the clinical manifestation of spinal disorders with the corresponding MRI findings, the book helps readers to develop a meaningful approach to the interpretation of MRI of the spine.

Arvustused

From the reviews:

"This single-volume book is intended to be an overview of spinal magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. an interdisciplinary effort, with contributions from radiologists, orthopedic surgeons, and neurosurgeons. There are over 500 black-and-white figures. The image reproduction quality is very good . The translation into English is excellent . writing is clear and succinct. quality of the printing is excellent. useful for medical students or orthopedic or neurosurgery residents who want an overview of common pathologic findings in spinal MR imaging." (Alyssa T. Watanabe, Radiology, Vol. 247 (3), 2008)

"This is the English version of a textbook written in German and edited in 2006. Imaging being a visual speciality, this textbook will be useful for residents in training up to senior general radiologist interested in the possibilities offered my classical MR imaging." (Pierre Kehr and Denis l. Kaech, European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology, Vol. 19, 2009)
