This book will serve to meet the needs of those studying Audiology, particularly of those who wish to become hearing aid audiologists. However, it is also an essential and valuable resource that will be of interest as a reference book, and should be in every hearing aid clinic's reference collection. This new edition was needed because the field of Audiology has developed since the book was previously published, with important changes in standards and codes of practice. The book provides simple diagrams and photographs to assist the reader, and covers further detail and more diverse new areas than the previous editions. A comprehensive index makes it easy to locate the information needed.
Maryanne Tate Maltby, MEd, MSc, EdD, is an audiological scientist, a hearing aid dispenser and a teacher of the deaf. She has a wide experience of both adult and paediatric audiology. After qualifying in Audiology, she became Head of Training for a large national hearing aid company, where she was responsible for the training of hearing aid dispensers. She also worked for five years as an educational audiologist in a special school for the deaf. Her lecturing career included teaching at Oxford Brookes University and working as Course Leader at the University of Manchester, and, more recently, at Anglia Ruskin University, UK. She is currently working as an external examiner and verifier for a number of audiology courses.
