Explore the magnificent environment of the coral reef and discover the threats facing it in this non-fiction picture book, with stunning illustrations from the award-winning artist Jason Cockcroft.

Imagine youre a butterflyfish. Where do you live? Its a place thats warm all year round, not too deep and full of life: its a coral reef! Meet the creatures that live here and find out about the resilience of nature in the face of climate change. Written by award-winning author and conservationist Martin Jenkins, this is an absorbing addition to the Protecting the Planet series, which brings together the very best nature writers with the most extraordinary illustrators.
Martin Jenkins is a conservation biologist and author of many groundbreaking non-fiction books. He worked for ten years for World Conservation Monitoring Centre, writing about a range of conservation issues, and since 1990 he has worked freelance for organisations such as WWF and a number of UN bodies concerned with conservation and the environment. Martin's jobs have varied greatly: "I've been an orchid-sleuth in Germany, a timber detective in Kenya and an investigator of the chameleon trade in Madagascar." Martin's children's books include Emperor's Egg, winner of the Times Junior Information Book of the Year Award.

Jason Cockcroft is an award-winning author and illustrator. He was born in New Zealand, grew up in Leeds, and studied illustration at Falmouth School of Art, now Falmouth University. He is the illustrator of a huge number of picture books and middle grade books in the UK and the US, most notably producing three of the original UK covers for the Harry Potter series published by Bloomsbury. His picture books include Song Of Sun And Sky and Night Walk. He is the author of We Were Wolves and Running With Horses, which were both longlisted for the Carnegie award.
