Lakshmi Subramanian is a retired professor of History from the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Kolkata and BITS Pilani Goa. She is the best known for her work on the Madras Music academy and Carnatic music.



Chats Devroop is a music practitioner and research professor at the Tshwane University of Technology, Pretoria. He is the author of major books on Jazz and has intervened decisively in matters of aesthetics, music technology and curriculum in South Africa.
