As a part of the Non-Nuclear Energy and Development Program of the Commission of the European Communities, the project SUNSAT was initiated to calculate the global radiation and its diffuse component as well as their statistics from the METEOSAT B2-ISCCP satellite data set. These observations cover the continents of Africa and Europe, the Middle East and wide regions of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Within this atlas, results for the time period (1985-1986) are presented as colored images with a spatial resolution of 0.5 degree x 0.5 degree and in the form of tables.
