An essential, best-loved classic
Born in Kilkea, County Kildare, Ireland, Sir Ernest Shackleton (18741922) was an Anglo-Irish Antarctic explorer who led three British expeditions to the Antarctic. Shackletons publications were The Heart of the Antarctic (1909) and South (1919), the second book was his account of the Trans-Antarctic Expedition (191416).
